Contact Your Elected Officials
You can locate a list of all your elected officials, from federal and state legislators to county supervisors, using the League of Women Voters website. All you need is your zip code.
Achieving a moratorium prohibiting additional factory farms in Iowa will require action by the state legislature, and the support of the governor. It’s important to contact our elected officials to make our voices heard.
Asking candidates in office where they stand on regulations of factory farms, and whether they support a moratorium, is an excellent way to raise the profile of this issue and get people talking. If particular candidates start hearing similar questions on multiple occasions and in various venues, they may feel compelled to learn more about the issue and take a stand, if it’s not an issue with which they’re already familiar.
